The Moorland Garden Hotel near Yelverton, has chosen the South West Equine Protection (SWEP) as its charity of the year.
With a range of fundraising initiatives introduced by the hotel to help generate income for the neighbouring charity, which is threatened with closure after being let down by the company managing its donations.
Donation envelopes and cuddly ponies have been placed in each of the bedrooms along with a newsletter and information about the trust. There are also collection tins in the bars and reception, and staff are set to muck in at the stables for a day.
“With the Dartmoor ponies wandering past on a daily basis it seemed appropriate to team up with SWEP to raise money and awareness for a cause right on our doorstep,” says the Moorland Garden Hotel’s General Manager, Andrew Jenkins. “The charity will have a presence at a number of our events this year and we’re hoping we can make a significant contribution to help them continue their good work.”
